Ingredients

  • 500 gr of chestnuts
  • 4 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 glass of water
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • a pinch of salt

Preparation of roasted chestnuts with honey

  1. To make delicious roasted chestnuts with honey, add plenty of water and a pinch of salt to a saucepan and bring the water to a boil.
  2. While the water is heating, wash the chestnuts, dry them with absorbent paper and with the help of a knife make a cross-shaped cut that goes through the shell and reaches the pulp.
  3. Once the water is boiling add them to the saucepan and simmer for 2 minutes.
  4. Strain the chestnuts and leave them in a container to rest for 10 minutes. Then peel them and reserve them while you prepare the honey syrup.
  5. Add a glass of water and sugar to a small saucepan and simmer without stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  6. Then add the honey and chestnuts and stir carefully to integrate.
  7. Cook the chestnuts with the honey for at least 15 minutes. Then turn off the heat and transfer the entire contents of the saucepan to a container. Let the chestnuts cool in the honey overnight in the refrigerator to absorb more flavor.
  8. When you are going to serve your roasted chestnuts with honey, take them out of the refrigerator and heat the portion you are going to use for 1 minute in the microwave, since hot is that the honey syrup is better appreciated. Take advantage!
