Ingredients

  • 1 cup of quinoa
  • 1 carrot
  • 100 gr. broccoli
  • 1 piece of cauliflower
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 100 gr. turmeric

Preparation of the steamed quinoa

  1. To make the steamed quinoa you will need either a steamer or a steaming rack that you can incorporate into any pot. Add water to the pot or steamer and place over medium heat to bring to a boil.
  2. While it reaches the boiling point, place the quinoa in a colander and wash it well to remove excess starch and dirt. When the water begins to boil, place the quinoa in the steamer basket or on the rack, sprinkle with a little salt, and cover to cook for 25 minutes.
  3. While the quinoa is being made, you can prepare the vegetables, ideally, you should use the same steam cooking method to ensure a healthy dish. To do this, peel and dice the carrot, as well as wash and chop the broccoli and cauliflower. Add everything to a steamer with a pinch of salt and cook for 10 minutes.
  4. If you don’t have another steamer, you can sauté the vegetables. Heat two tablespoons of oil over medium heat and, once hot, add all the vegetables with a pinch of salt. Sauté, stirring frequently for 10-15 minutes, depending on whether you prefer well-cooked or slightly crunchy vegetables. Once ready, remove from the pan and reserve.
  5. When there are 5 minutes left to remove the quinoa, peel the garlic cloves and cut them into small pieces. Add a little oil to a pan and place it over low heat, when it is hot, add the garlic to brown.
  6. Take out the quinoa, drain it very well, mix it with the vegetables and add everything together to the pan in which the garlic is cooking. Sprinkle cumin on top and salt and pepper to taste. Stir and cook everything together for 5 minutes.
  7. After this time, your steamed quinoa will be ready to serve! A delicious, light and simple dish to prepare, perfect for those looking for a healthier diet without complications.
