  • 1 kg. from mussels
  • 500 gr. from tomatoes
  • 1 onion
  • 3 teeth of Garlic
  • 250 ml. from White wine dry
  • 250 ml. of water
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • Black pepper
  • Salt

Preparation of steamed mussels with tomato

  1. To prepare these mussels, the first thing you should do is wash them well with fresh water. Remove the beards and brush the shells to remove any adhesion.
  2. It is important that if one is open you throw it away, it is the best to avoid risk of poisoning. Once clean, reserve.
  3. Peel the onion and garlic cloves, cut them into squares. Put a pot of water on the fire and make a cross incision in the upper part of the tomatoes.

  6. Next, add the tomato, sugar, bay leaf, salt and pepper and cook over low heat for 30 minutes. After time, pass the sauce through a strainer and reserve.
  7. To cook the mussels, place the water in a pot, add a pinch of salt and add them. Take to the fire and cover to cook with the steam for 8 minutes.
  8. After time, uncover them and if they are all open, remove from the fire. Remove one of the shells and keep the one with the mussel attached.
  9. Serve your mussels steamed with tomato and cover them with the hot sauce. Enjoy them with a good piece of bread!
