Sesame falafel recipe

When preparing this recipe for falafel with sesame, you can use white or black sesame, the taste is almost identical.


  • 300 gr. from garbanzo beans.
  • 75 gr. of sesame seeds.
  • 3 onions.
  • 2 teeth of Garlic.
  • 2 tablespoons of flour.
  • Bread crumbs.
  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda.
  • 1 lemon
  • Olive oil.

Falafel recipe with sesame.

  1. As we need the chickpeas to be tender, we are going to soak them the night before, so that at the time of cooking they are ready.
  2. Peel the onion and garlic cloves and chop into small pieces, which we will put in the blender glass. We also add the chickpeas, strained and drained, along with the spices: cumin, pepper, coriander and a little cinnamon. Stir so that the ingredients are well mixed and proceed to pour in the flour and bicarbonate.
  3. We blend everything until a homogeneous cream-like mixture is formed. We keep this cream in the fridge for a couple of hours.
  4. When it is ready we take it out and we are taking portions, which we will join to make a ball or a croquette. We are placing them in a bowl or container until you finish making all that the cream allows us.
  5. We put a frying pan on the fire with enough oil. We coat our falafel with the breadcrumbs and fry, two by two is more advisable. Do not remove from heat until they are golden brown on both sides.
  6. As we take them out, we will place them on a tray with absorbent paper, so that they release all the excess oil.
  7. While they release the oil, we will prepare the sesame cream: toast the sesame seeds and put in the mortar with a little oil. Blend until you get a very thick paste, to which we will add a little water. We crush a couple of garlic cloves to extract the juice and add to the mixture, as well as sprinkle a little salt and squeeze the lemon to add to the mixture. We stir and we have our sauce ready.
