Recipe for egg custard with orange

For a tastier and sweeter taste, try the egg custard with orange. Its preparation is quite simple and very fast.


For the caramel:

  • 5 tablespoons of white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of water
  • 1/2 tablespoon of juice lemon

For the flan:

  • 3 eggs
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 200 gr. of sugar
  • 500 ml. whole milk
  • two Orange
  • 1 tablespoon of essence of vanilla

Preparation of egg custard with orange

  1. The first thing to prepare is going to be the caramel that is going to cover the flan, for which you are going to put a pan on the fire to heat up to medium temperature.
  2. Add the 5 tablespoons of white sugar, with the 3 tablespoons of water and the 1/2 tablespoon of lemon.
  3. Let it sit for a few minutes over medium heat, without stirring, watching for bubbles to appear and the sugar gradually changing color. That will be the signal for you to start stirring and mix everything.
  4. Remove from the heat and continue stirring until it has a dark color, as if it were something toasted.
  5. Add a little more lemon so that it does not crystallize so quickly and pour it into the different molds that you are going to use for the puddings.
  6. Now you have to prepare what the flan will be, for which first you are going to grate one of the oranges and peel the skin on the other. You extract the juice from both.
  7. Put the milk to heat up on the fire, stopping heating when you see that it is going to start boiling.
  8. Inside the milk you are going to add the grated skin of the orange, the peeled skin, the tablespoon of vanilla and let it rest for about 5 minutes with the saucepan covered, as if you were preparing an infusion.
  9. Strain the milk so that the pieces of orange peel do not remain inside.
  10. Beat the eggs with the egg yolks, the whites can be used to make another recipe where you have to take them to the point of snow, and add the sugar with the orange peel and the lemon game. Don’t stop beating until a creamy dough forms.
