  • 1/2 kilo of wheat flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 150 gr. of oil
  • 3 half eggshells with olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of Garlicnjolí
  • 1 tablespoon of anise seed
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon ground
  • 1 lemon and 1 Orange
  • Skin 1 lemon
  • 1 kg. from honey
  • 1 glass of water

Preparation of the gañotes with honey

  1. The first thing we do is wash the lemon and orange well, and then grate the peel. We put them in a deep bowl and add the sugar, the eggs and the oil from the three half-shells. We beat everything, until it is well mixed.
  2. Next, add the anise seeds, sesame and cinnamon, mix well again. We add the flour and work the dough.
  3. If it sticks to the fingers, add small amounts of flour until it stops sticking. You have to try not to have more flour than you admit, because this in excess would change the flavor of the recipe a lot. We make a big ball with it.
  4. We are taking small amounts of dough, and we stretch them into elongated strips. With the help of some kind of small stick, we roll each strip. This is what will give the hanger its typical spiral appearance. In a frying pan, heat olive oil with the lemon peel.
  5. When the skin begins to brown, we remove it (we must take care that it does not burn, because it would give the oil a sour taste), and we fry each strip without removing the stick. We let them rest and when they are cold, we remove the stick. It is best to let them rest on some type of absorbent paper to remove excess oil, so that they are not greasy.
  6. We boil the honey with the water, and we add the beans one by one, removing them quickly. Each gañote should be soaked for just a few seconds in the honey, just long enough for it to soak in it.
  7. And ready! Our delicious squid with honey are ready to be savored.
