For the cake:

  • 450 gr. Of flour
  • 200 gr. of sugar
  • 250 gr. of butter
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 yogurt
  • 1 sachet of yeast

For the fondant:

  • Green fondant
  • Colored gum paste
  • Butter

Chrysanthemum fondant cake recipe

  1. We are going to make the cake. As the butter has to be soft, although it will come better if it is melted, you pass it a little in the microwave. Beat the butter together with the sugar until it forms a creamy white mixture.
  2. The yolks of the eggs are separated from the whites. These clear the beats with sugar until they reach the point of snow. On the other hand, you are going to beat the yolks with the butter, one by one, until they are well integrated.
  3. Add the yogurt to the mixture and beat again, each time you will obtain a more homogeneous mixture.
  4. Then sift the flour, together with the yeast, and add to the mixture. Beat well to form a consistent dough.
  5. Add this dough to the whites with the snow point and beat gently, forming a new dough.
  6. Pour this dough into a mold spreading in butter and in the oven, at 190º C for about half an hour.
  7. When the cake is ready, you can cut it in half horizontally and fill it with some kind of cream or chocolate if you want. Cover with the green fondant, to simulate the grass.
  8. Now stretch the gum paste, the color you want, to make the chrysanthemum leaves. It will cost you a bit, but you will see how once the plant is mounted you will be happy with the result.
