Wine roscos recipe

Ingredients:

  • 300 gr. Of flour
  • 45 gr. toasted sesame
  • 70 gr. icing sugar
  • 100 gr. lard
  • 1 tablespoon of anise grains
  • 120 ml. muscat wine
  • 1 orange
  • 1 bowl of powdered sugar

Preparation of the wine rolls

The wine rolls are a delicious dessert and very easy to make, which you can always serve at your table at any traditional party. Follow our recipe and shine with some delicious donuts.

  1. To make this recipe, start by toasting the flour a little. It is a simple process: put a wide pan on the fire and put the flour, without anything else, over medium heat. With the help of a wooden spoon, stir it as it roasts, when the pan is hot enough, lower the power to the minimum to prevent the flour from burning. Stir in the pan for about 10 minutes and transfer to a bowl.
  2. As the flour cools down a bit, proceed to grate the orange peel with a grater, being very careful to only take the orange part and not the white part, which is very acidic and would spoil the dish.
  3. When the flour has cooled, sift it into a bowl to avoid lumps in the mixture. Make a hole in the center of the flour and add the icing sugar, the anise and the grated orange peel. Mix with the help of a spoon to unify all the ingredients.
  4. Add the lard at room temperature so you can work with it. Also add the wine, if you can’t find muscat, use any other that has a sweet flavor.
  5. With a fork mix the ingredients until a kind of crumbs form. That is the signal for you to flour your hands and begin to work the dough into a ball.
  6. Flour a flat surface to knead and stretch the mixture, once you can no longer work with your hands, opt for the rolling pin, which will allow the dough to stretch more evenly. Turn the oven to 180 ºC so that it takes temperature.
  7. When the dough is approximately 1.5 centimeters thick, it is time to make the donuts. For this, it is best to use a round mold to make the outer circle and a smaller one for the inner one, in this way the result will be perfect.
  8. As you form the wine rolls, put them on an oven-safe tray and previously covered with greaseproof paper. Put in the oven for about 10 minutes, with heat from above and below at 180º C.
  9. When they are ready, take out and let it warm a little. When they have cooled slightly, sprinkle the icing sugar so that it adheres to the wine rolls that you have made. You will see how rich they are!
  10. Go ahead with this traditional Spanish recipe that is delicious. And if you want more typical sweets, then don’t miss our homemade torrijas and our delicious egg flan recipes.
