To make the base:
- two eggs
- 150 gr. of butter
- 150 gr. icing sugar
- 300 gr. Of flour

- 200 gr. pecans, peeled and unsalted
- 4 eggs
- 50 gr. of butter
- 175 gr. maple syrup
- 85 gr. brown sugar
- 50 gr. Of flour
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Preparation of the pecan pie
- Start by preparing the ingredients for the base of the pecan pie. To do this you must sift the flour together with the salt and icing sugar and pour it into a bowl. Mix everything and add the butter, which should be cold and diced. To mix these ingredients you must help yourself with your hands.
- When you get a texture similar to that of wet sand, you must add the eggs and mix until you get a smooth and homogeneous mass. Wrap it in plastic wrap and put it in the fridge for an hour.
- Once this time has elapsed, spread the dough slightly on a flat, floured surface with the help of a rolling pin. Put the dough in a round mold and put it in the fridge while you make the filling. Put the oven to preheat to 190ºC.
- Start the filling by crushing the nuts but reserve 25 or 30, with these you will have to cover the cake. Next, sift the flour and set it aside.
- Combine the eggs, butter, sugar, vanilla extract and maple syrup in a bowl. Once you get a homogeneous mixture, add the flour. You will obtain a dough with a creamy texture, add the crushed walnuts and stir again.
- Take the dough out of the fridge and pour the mixture you just made over it. Finally, place the whole walnuts that you had reserved on top to decorate the cake.
- Put the cake in the oven to bake for 40 minutes. After this time, take out the cake and let it cool down on a rack. Once it’s warm, you can unmold your pecan pie, enjoy!
