Preparation of Argentine tuna empanadas

  1. To prepare the dough, the first thing you should do is heat the water and dissolve the salt in it. Then place the flour in a bowl, make a hole in the center in the shape of a volcano, add the melted butter and pour the water slowly. Mix well.
  2. When you have a uniform dough, remove it from the bowl. Sprinkle flour on a flat surface and knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Wrap it in a plastic wrap and put it to rest for an hour in the fridge.
  3. Meanwhile, you are going to take the time to make the filling. Peel the onions and tomatoes, extract the seeds and dice. Chop the pepper the same after washing. Peel the garlic cloves and mash them in a mortar.
  4. Heat the olive oil in a pan and fry the onion with a pinch of salt. When it turns transparent, add the garlic and the pepper, give a couple of turns and add the tomato, the paprika powder, salt and pepper and mix.
  5. After 10 minutes add the tuna, olives and cook for 5 more minutes to integrate the flavors. Remove from the heat, add the egg, mix and cool.
  6. To assemble the empanadas, roll out the dough with a rolling pin and cut thin circles 12 centimeters in diameter. Add a generous tablespoon of filling, close with the help of a fork and brush with the beaten egg.
  7. Grease a tray, place your empanadas and cook for 20 minutes with the oven previously preheated to 190 ° C. Enjoy your meal!
