- 500 gr. from potatoes
- 150 gr. from bacon
- two eggs
- 1 onion
- 1 stalk of celery
- 1/2 cup of Mayonnaise
- 1/3 cup pickles, chopped
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1 spoon of sugar
- Salt and pepper
American potato salad preparation
- The first thing you should do is wash the potatoes well. Place a saucepan on the fire with enough water to cover them and salt. When the water comes to a boil, add the unpeeled potatoes.
- Cook for 20 minutes or until the potatoes are soft. Remove them from the water and wait for them to cool to cut them into pieces, do not remove the skin. Reservation.
- While the potatoes are cooking, add water to a smaller pan. When it boils, carefully add the eggs and cook over moderate heat for 10-12 minutes.
- Remove the eggs from the heat, remove the hot water, and add ice water. Let them rest for 10 minutes. Then remove the shell and chop them. Reservation.
- Then wash the celery and cut it into squares. Peel the onion and cut it into very small pieces. Take the pickles and dice them too. Reservation.
- Then cut the bacon into small pieces as well and cook them in a hot pan until crisp. Remove them from the heat and remove the excess fat by placing them on an absorbent paper. Reservation.
- Skim the fat from the skillet, leaving only a tablespoon and add the mayonnaise, mustard, sugar, salt, and pepper to taste. When everything has been integrated you will have your dressing ready.
- Add the potatoes, eggs, onion, pickles and celery to a bowl, pour in the dressing and mix well. Take to cool in the refrigerator for an hour.
