Ingredients

  • 400 gr. unsalted butter
  • 250 gr. dark chocolate
  • 400 gr. of sugar
  • 250 gr. non-rising flour
  • 75 gr. cocoa powder
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla essence
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 200 gr. chopped walnuts

Preparation of the American brownie

  1. The first thing you should do is preheat the oven to 180 ° C, then grease a square pan with a little oil and put enough greaseproof paper on top to cover the bottom and sides. There should be some leftover paper left so you can easily remove the brownie once it’s done.
  2. Put the butter and the 250 gr. of chocolate in a bowl and put it in the microwave for two minutes. The time can vary according to the microwave so be aware and try to avoid that it does not pass you so that the chocolate does not burn. As soon as it is melted, mix both ingredients.
  3. In a separate container, and with the help of a strainer, sift the flour, salt and cocoa powder and in another bowl beat the eggs, sugar and vanilla essence with a few manual rods.
  4. Add the dry ingredients, that is, the flour, the salt and the cocoa to the bowl with the eggs and then add the chocolate and butter there as well. It is very important that the chocolate is cold.
  5. Mix everything well and when you have a homogeneous mixture, add the chopped walnuts and mix them with enveloping movements with a spatula. Reserve a few for garnish.
  6. Now pour the mixture into the prepared mold, decorate with the walnuts that you reserved and put it in the oven for 30 minutes. When done, the surface should have the typical crunchy appearance of this cake.
  7. Remove the mold from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Then you can enjoy your delicious American brownie!
