Did you know that barbecue sauce was created more than 500 years ago? Also known as barbecue or BBQ, it is believed that the word comes from French, although it is the Americans who are credited with its creation. Today in Easyrecipe.top we are going to teach you how to make one american barbecue sauce.

The secret of its preparation is to cook it over low heat and, although it is recommended to season pork and beef, you can also combine it with vegetables, poultry and fish. Spice up your chicken burguer or to your baked ribs with potatoes with this tasty American barbecue sauce!

Ingredients

  • one onion
  • 1 tooth of Garlic
  • 100 ml. cider vinegar
  • 100 ml. whiskey
  • 50 gr. brown sugar
  • 50 gr. from honey
  • 200 gr. sauce tomato
  • 3 tablespoons ketchup
  • one lemon
  • 100 gr. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Salt

Preparation of the American barbecue sauce

  1. The first thing you should do is peel the onion and garlic and dice them. Heat the olive oil in a pot with the butter and add the onion. Add salt and fry, stirring from time to time.
  2. When the onion has become transparent, add the garlic, stir well for 2 minutes, add the whiskey and, when it has evaporated after about five minutes, add the fried tomato.
  3. Cook for two more minutes, stirring occasionally, and add the honey, sugar, vinegar, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup.
  4. Cook for 10 more minutes on low heat and remember to stir to prevent the sauce from sticking to you. Add the thyme, rosemary, oregano, and cayenne pepper. Rectify the salt, but remember, this sauce should be rather sweet.
  5. Cook for 15 more minutes or until you have achieved the consistency you like. Remove from the heat and pack it. If you want to store it, it can last in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
